How it can help
NetRecorder+ is a system designed to make lives easier for all staff members within an Institution. No longer do you have to worry about searching for a video on your shelves, or having to delegate a staff member to manage video recordings, NetRecorder+ does all that for you.
Planning Lessons
How often do you see an advert for a programme on TV, and think ‘…that would be perfect for the class I’m teaching…’ and then spend time trying to record it at home, or getting it recorded in your institution.
With NetRecorder+ all of this can be done with a minimum of clicks. You can also view a full days listings for any channel, and the booking system extends for a week in advance, to make it easier for staff to book.
Then there is previewing. With tutors time being restricted, sometimes it can be difficult to be able to get hold of a copy of a video before being able to show it to students. With NetRecorder+ you can preview a copy from the comfort of your own home or desk. A standard computer connected to the internet or your Institutes network is all you need to be able to view what has been recorded.
In Lessons
The ease of use of the player means that a recording can be streamed direct to a computer or projector in seconds. The versatility of the player allows for the staff member to be able to move to a particular point in the timeline by simply dragging a marker along a bar to reach the desired point.
The ease of use of projectors should be advantageous, as you can then adjust the screen size. A problem of conventional systems is that some students at the back of a class can struggle to see the programme, if the TV screen is too small. Using NetRecorder+, connected to a projector, means that you can adjust the screen size to better suit everyone.
The system is also fully available to students, so rather than watch the video as a group, it is also possible to stream numerous copies to individual machines so that only certain students can watch it. This also opens up opportunities for staff, as no longer are you restricted to ‘just that one copy of the programme’, as NETRecorder+ can multi-cast, limited only by the speed of your network.

Outside of Lessons
All of the recordings are held on a central server, so any student or staff member connected to the network can view a recording. This can mean that if a student misses a recording in lesson, they can go into the library or open-access computer area and view the recording they missed, and all that is needed is a pair of headphones so they don't disturb others around them.
Another advantage for sprawling, multi-site institutions is that the recording can be delivered to any site, so long as they are connected to the network. The file streams are so small they work over wireless and wired link at the same speed without any perceptible loss of quality.
Other Applications
The versatile and continually evolving nature of NetRecorder+ is as such that many applications are available for its use, from simple things such as streaming to PDA’s and handheld systems, to running a series of screens around an Institute that run internally made productions, or messages for the students, staff and visitors to look at.
